Responsibilities

The City Clerk promotes community involvement and awareness and supports the City Council, staff and the citizens of Jurupa Valley by coordinating the legislative process and administering City elections. As a service department, staff assists the public, elected officials, and the City organization with a number of important activities, including accurately preparing and processing agendas, and administering the citywide records management program including records storage and destruction. The City Clerk maintains the Campaign Disclosure Statements and Statements of Economic Interests as required by law. The duties of the City Clerk include:

  • The accurate record of City Council proceedings
  • Actions and documentation of City Council Meetings
  • Administering the City's records management program
  • Administering regulations relating to the Fair Political Practices Commission
  • Administration of all municipal and special elections
  • Maintenance of the Municipal Code
  • Protection and preservation of the City's past history
  • Providing research and information services to the public and City personnel
  • Receiving and filing claims against the City
  • Responsibility for the care and custody of all official records and documents of the City

Responsibilities to City Boards & Commissions

The City Clerk's Office provides a current list of City Boards and Commissions (PDF), their vacancies, and their regular meeting dates. City Council Agendas are posted at the Glen Avon and Louis Robidoux Libraries. 

A complete agenda packet is available for review on the City's website. City Council Minutes are prepared by the City Clerk and are the permanent record of proceedings of each City Council meeting.
