The Traffic Engineering Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of traffic within City limits. Our goal is to optimize traffic flow on arterial streets, enhance the safety of neighborhood and school zones, and improve traffic management throughout the City. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 • Accident data collection and analysis
 • Traffic volume data collection
 • Establishment of Speed Zones
 • Investigating and responding to the need for street lights, pedestrian safety improvements, traffic calming and school safety improvements

Open Construction Traffic Delays

Limonite Avenue

Limonite Avenue Widening Construction (between Etiwanda Avenue and Bain Street) will begin September 26, 2016 and will continue through June, 2017. During this time, residents may experience delays due to construction activities. It is recommended that Jurupa Road and Bellegrave Avenue be used as alternative routes during this time. Updates for major closures will be posted on the City's website and detours will be posted once the project begins. Troth Street

The Troth Street Sidewalk Improvement Project, (between 58th Street to Jurupa Road) will begin July 5, 2017 and continue to September, 2017.  The project includes construction of new infill curb and gutter and sidewalk. Some areas of existing pavement will be reconstructed where it is necessary to match the new curb elevations.  Road access will be maintained during construction, but traffic delays can be expected due to this work.  This project is being constructed with funds granted from the California “Safe Routes to School Program” and from the City of Jurupa Valley. Temporary Road Closures

Camino Real, Avenue Baja, and Intersection of Jurupa Road and Galena Street

The Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District (JARPD) will be holding a community event on July 3, 2017 at Patriot High School.  The event will include a fireworks show.  Road closures and "no parking" signs will be supplied for this event.  

From 3:00PM to 11:00PM the following closures will occur:

Camino Real at Avenue Baja to both northbound and southbound and traffic

Intersection of Jurupa Road and Galena Street

"No Parking" signs will be placed for the whole day on July 3, 2017 on the following streets:

Jurupa Road to Camino Real to Tyrolite Street

Bethel Road to Abigail Road to Garth Street

 

Beach Street

On July 7, 2017, between 9:00AM and 3:30PM, SoCal Edison will need to close Beach Street to through traffic to perform utility work.  A detour around the Beach Street closure will be set-up to use 58th, Rutile and 56th Streets.  Residents will have access to their homes at all times.

Briggs Street - Permanent Closure

Northbound Briggs Street (south of Mission Boulevard at Avalon Street) will be permanently closed on September 8, 2016.  Briggs Street currently dead-ends into the La Noria Market’s parking lot.   Eventually, a new cul-de-sac will be constructed at the northern terminus of Briggs Street.  Thru traffic will no longer be able to access Mission Boulevard by driving through the privately owned parking lot from Briggs Street to Avalon Street.
