Department Overview
The Public Works and Engineering Department is focused on program support of activities that fall primarily in the public right of way. These activities typically include:
- Capital Projects
- Land Development
- Maintenance
- Storm Water
- Traffic Engineering
Mission Statement
The mission of the department is to develop, build, and maintain the City’s infrastructure to the standards set forth by City Council, to enhance the safety, welfare, and aesthetics of the environment for residents, visitors, and business owners alike. These things are accomplished by the development and maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, and traffic systems, as well as the engineering oversight of various public and private improvement projects, and the implementation of a Water Quality Improvement Program.
