Permit Ready Accessory Buildings 

At the November 21, 2024, City Council meeting, the City Council approved the development of permit-ready plans for accessory buildings, including barns, storage sheds, animal stalls, and patio covers, as well as creating fillable information fields for the existing PRADU plans. 

Over the past year, the City has been hard at work exploring ways to make the permitting process more efficient and user-friendly for Jurupa Valley residents. Building on the success of our pre-approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program, we developed Permit-Ready Accessory Building Plans for some of the most common structures in our community.

 Now Available

These new pre-engineered, code-compliant plan sets are now available for:

• Barns (approx. 1,200 sq. ft., modular and flexible in length)
• Patio Covers (approx. 400 sq. ft., updated to the current building code)
• Storage Sheds (approx. 300 sq. ft.)
• Horse Stables (approx. 350 sq. ft.)
• Detached Garage Plan (approx. 500 sq ft.)

The goal of this program is simple: make it easier, faster, and cost effective for residents to build safe, compliant accessory structures. By providing ready-to-use plans that meet the latest building standards, we reduce red tape, improve safety, and create a smoother path for residents who want to improve their properties. These plans are now available to residents as part of our expanded permit-ready program.
